SetVol Application Software Download Free Windows
Application Software Download Free Windows
The purpose of SetVol is to allow users to change the volume at startup and at any time after that. In order to do this, the program needs to be run from a command line. It also comes with a volume testing feature. This is useful in case the program doesn't function as intended and you need to restart it.
Managing Categories
The SCRCAT parameter allows you to specify a scratch category for a specified media type when it becomes eligible, such as during expiration processing. This can help prevent expired logical volumes from being recalled into cache for the duration of the expiration process. It can be used with either a shared or dedicated catalog. Specifying a fast-ready scratch category can be especially helpful for virtual (or logical) tapes.
For a Scratch Category to be selected it must meet the following conditions:
1. The use status of the volume is Free (Use Status Flag indicates free).
2. There is not a user hold in effect on the volume (User Hold Flag indicates No Hold).
3. The volume is not in an external library (Internal/External Flag indicates External).
4. There is no DSE action pending on the volume (DSE Flag indicates No DSE).
5. The volume is not enqueued by another Tape Manager request (TAPEEQRY Return Codes 144).
If a manual or ATL scratch mount is requested, and the RMM catalog specifies that the volume does not satisfy the requirements for a scratch, a generic scratch mount message will be displayed or sent to the LMM (refer to the GenScratch configuration statement in the Tape Manager User Guide for more details).
